Romania's new tourism brand, which will be launched tomorrow at the Shanghai World Expo, is 'Explore the Carpathian Garden', according to Impactnews.ro, quoting official sources. The logo features a green leaf on a blue background, according to the same source.

A 42-kilometer marathon will take place in Moieciu de Sus, in Brasov county, in May next year. The running event, which will be organized on May 7 under the name EcoMarathon, has a nine-hour time limit. The course is made out of 3 loops forming the EcoMarathon clover, the Start and the Finish are in Moieciu de Sus. Besides the marathon, a cross on 14 kilometers will also be organized.

Discounter Plus has opened two new stores with an investment of EUR 3 million. The new discounter stores are in Cluj and in Slobozia. The new openings brings the Plus network in Romania at 103 stores. Plus has been expanding in Romania for the last couple of years and it plans to further grow its network to cities of over 15,000 inhabitants.

Street Heroes, the international urban culture festival which brings together skating, bmx, graffiti, street art, street dance and parties will take place between August 12-14 in Tineretului Park in Bucharest. The event will host the release of a film by Pontus Alv, called 'In Search of the Miraculous', on August 12.

Romanian lender Banca Transilvania posted a gross profit of EUR 14.1 million in the first half of this year, which was more than five times higher than the gross profit posted mid-last year. The net profit in the first half of this year was of EUR 7.8 million, according to the bank. The gross profit in the first half of the year covers 40 percent of what the bank had expected for the entire year.

Central European Media Enterprises, which owns several TV stations in Romania, posted USD 80 million in net revenues in the first half of the year, down USD 4 million on the same period of last year. The first quarter of the year meant net revenues of USD 43 million for the company in Romania, down USD 5 million on the first quarter of 2009.

Several tourist sights around Bucharest will be accessible by public transport starting August 1st, when the Bucharest Public Transport Service (RATB) will start its partnership with the Tourism Ministry and will set up nine bus tracks to reach the tourist sights.
