European Commission experts have started an evaluation mission on Romania's progresses in the justice area, part of the Mechanism of Cooperation and Verification (MCV) on Justice. According to Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu, Romania's progress in the judiciary system since the last country report shows the clear commitment by the Romanian Government to fulfill its obligations.
Romanian senators on Tuesday adopted a bill that bans human cloning and certain practices involving human embryos except for in vitro fertilization purposes. The bill, which bans human cloning and certain applications in biomedicine that go against human rights and human dignity, was adopted 99 to three votes and two abstentions.
A photo exhibition with images from Kenya will be on display at the Hobby Cafe in Bucharest (34 Negustorilor St.) until November 19. The exhibition features 35 photographs taken by Romania photographer Florin Ghioca, who has been invited by the National Geographic Channel on a trip to Kenya.

'Hand Held', a documentary about Romania's orphans from the 90s will be screened in Bucharest on December 4, at the Romanian National Art Museum . The documentary, directed by Don Hahn presents the story of photojournalist Michael Carroll, who came to Romania in 1990 and discovered the HIV-infected orphans in Romania. Hahn and Caroll will attend the screening in Bucharest.
The Romanian car market registered the fifth largest decline in the European Union in the first ten months of 2010, down three places to the 17th spot, in terms of new car registrations, according to the Association of European Carmakers (ACEA).
The Credit Europe Bank shareholders have recently approved the appointment of Omer Tetik, the first vice-president of Credit Europe Romania Bank, as president and head of the Administration Council. Tetik replaces Murat Sabaz, who will stay in the bank’s board. Omer Tetik will start on the new job once the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) approves the management change.

Romania had the highest annual inflation rate in the EU in October this year, of 7.9 percent, while the average in the EU was of 2.3 percent, and in the Euro zone, of 1.9 percent. The lowest level of inflation was recorded in Ireland, with minus 0.8 percent, Letonia, with 0.9 percent, Slovakia, with 1 percent. 15 EU member states saw their inflation up in October- Romania included.
Romania’s national power holdings Electra and Hidroenergetica might be set up by the end of the year, said Claudiu Stafie, state secretary within the Economy Ministry. "We hope the two power holdings will be established by the end of 2010," Stafie told the MEDIAFAX Talks about Energy conference.
Insurance company Generali posted a volume of gross subscribed premiums of EUR 78.4 million in the first nine months of the year, down 9 percent compared to the same period last year. The insurer saw however growth on its life insurance segment, with a growth of 6.4 percent.
