Romanian unionists affiliated with education union federations FEN and ‘Spiru Haret’ will stage protests outside the Presidential Palace on October 5, the World Teachers’ Day. Spiru Haret union leader Gheorghe Isvoranu said unionists protest over salary cuts and the country's education bill which makes the wage cut measure permanent, although the Constitutional Court said it should be temporary.

The famous 'Ox Cart' painting by Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu, which was auctioned for EUR 155,000 last week in Bucharest, is among the most expensive art works sold in Romania so far. The painting's value was estimated between EUR 150,000 and EUR 250,000. The painting was sold at Artmark's auction last week and the buyer was Romanian investor Mircea Cristian Vescan, the owner of Armax Gaz Medias, according to Romanian media.

The Romanian Association for Aeronautics (ARCA) has launched the first Romanian rocket, Helen 2, which had been placed onboard of a ship in the Constanta area in the Black Sea. The rocket was supposed to be launched last year but the mission failed because of unfavorable weather.

The construction of the new terminal building of the Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (the Otopeni airport) will be finalized in November and the terminal will be put in use in March 2011, along with Romania's accession to the Schengen Area. Investments in the airport's new terminal amount to EUR 60 million and construction works are executed by Italian company Astaldi.
