Romania’s public road authority CNADNR will introduce the electronic road toll system on October 1 and drivers without proof of its payment will be charged compensation between EUR 28 and EUR1,210, depending on the type of vehicle, and will be fined. CNADNR will also introduce a road toll sticker valid for three months, according to a Transport Ministry press release on Thursday.

Four people died and 57 were injured Thursday morning in Tulcea town, southeastern Romania, after a bus transporting tens of passengers plunged off a dam linking Tulcea to its industrial site. The town's protection dam is used for traffic as the road to the industrial area is currently under repair.

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc has changed his mind about using a police escort after initially announcing he had given up on a police traffic escort after some members of the Romanian Police had rallied in Bucharest last week. "It was a way to show my disapproval of those who breached the law and express my standpoint concerning those who were supposed to defend the law but violated it," said the prime minister.

The biggest cryogeny center in the European Union, worth over EUR 11 million, will be built in Ramnicu Valcea, northwest of Bucharest, according to Ion Stefanescu, the director of the National Institute of Research and Development for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI), quoted by Agerpres. The project will take two years to be completed.
