The rate of software piracy in Romania has dropped in the last two years, remained constant in Europe and is rising worldwide, according to data made public Tuesday by the Romanian Police Department, Business Software Alliance (BSA) and the General Prosecutor's Office. Romania's piracy rate is among the highest in the European Union – 65 percent, according to data from last year. It went down from 72 percent in 2007 but is still double the EU average.

All authorized Bucharest cab companies will be allowed to pick up clients from the Bucharest Henri Coanda (Otopeni) airport from November 11 is they fulfill several minimum mandatory conditions, the Transport Ministry has decided. The airport authority will issue free taxi access permits for the airport but cab owners will have to pay the RON 6 cab access tariff.

The Romanian Central Bank (BNR) Tuesday decided to keep the 2012 inflation target at 3 percent, with one percentage point variation band, and to adopt a flat multi-annual inflation target of 2.5 percent, plus/minus 1 percentage point, as of 2013.

British DJ Matt Gresham, who mixes under the stage name Logistics, will play in Bucharest on November 13, at Arenele Romane (26 Cutitul de Argint), from 22,00 hours. MAP. His concert was initially scheduled for April this year but had to be canceled due to the eruption of the Iceland volcano which disrupted air traffic across Europe.

Swedish rock metal band Therion will perform in Bucharest on November 22 at Arenele Romane (2 Cutitul de Argint St.) from 19,30 hours. MAP Swedish Loch Vostok and Norwegian band Leprous will play the opening for the Therion concert.

Ovidiu Rom's Halloween Charity Ball this year, which took place on October 30 at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, brought together business people and public figures who dressed up for the 50s and raised money to send poor children to kindergarden. The Ovidiu Rom charity raised over EUR 500,000 at this charitable event, enough to keep 1,200 poor children in kindergarden for a year. See a photo gallery from the event below.
