After a 2010 full of concerts, Bucharest will welcome some new names in its concert halls. Roxette and Bon Jovi gigs have already been confirmed for this year, while rumor has it U2 could inaugurate the new Lia Manoliu stadium in September. Check out some of the concerts planned for the first half of 2011 in the Romanian capital city.
A Christmas Fair has been opened at the Brancovenesc Palace (Palatul Brancovenesc) in Mogosoaia, close to Bucharest. The fair, called Targul Brancovenilor, features stands selling traditional products and gifts, food and beverages, as well as a park and playground, an ice rink and a Disney Palace – a good place to take your kids if you're spending a few days in Bucharest during the winter holidays.
Andy Fletcher, one of the founding members of Depeche Mode, will throw a show in Bucharest on January 29 at The Ark Underground, 150 Uranus St – formerly 196A Calea Rahovei, from 21,00 hours. Tickets for the event cost RON 50. The event is organized by The Ark and supported by Emagic.
Rolang, the Romanian language school, will organize a free Romanian language test and a course for foreigners on January 12, from 18,30 hours. The evening will start with a hone-hour test which will allow participants find out their level of proficiency in Romanian.
The Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest will organize the screening of the Shukar Collective Project documentary on December 16, from 18,00 hours. The screening will take place at the ICR headquarters, 38 Aleea Alexandru in Bucharest
