A group of Romanian investors is planning the first lake dwelling resort in Romania, in Berzasca, Caras Severin county, South West of Romania, local media has reported. The resort will include, among others 30 bungalows, two pools and restaurants on the Danube. The project, worth EUR 1.6 million, will be half financed by European funds.
A delegation of the European Parliament's Regional Development Commission is visiting Romania from November 3 until November 5 for an on-site assessment of the use of structural funds. The delegation will also visit project sites in Giurgiu, Arad and Timisoara.

IBM has been selected infrastructure provider for six Romanian organizations partnering on the Romania's National Computing Initiative (RoGrid), aimed at supporting national scientific projects. RoGrid selected IBM servers and storage in deals with a combined value of USD 1.4 million to support projects across the fields of medicine, environment and life sciences.
The British electro-pop boy duo Hurts, which was supposed to perform in Bucharest on November 11 at the Silver Church club, has delayed its Romanian concert for April 7, 2011. Changes in the band's schedule triggered the delay.
Romanian former Defense Ministry state secretary Dumitru Cioflina, former Defense Minister Victor Babiuc, the latter’s daughter, Ioana Babiuc, and football club Steaua owner George Becali (in picture) were indicted in a case regarding an exchange of land between the ministry and the businessman. The case was sent to the High Court of Justice, which has set the first trial date for January 18, 2011.
Daniel Negreanu, an internationally famous poker player of Romanian origin, attended a poker tournament which took place in Bucharest on October 31st. Negreanu, nicknamed Kid Poker, is a professional poker player and one of the highest earning poker players of all times. His total live tournament winnings exceed USD 13 million.
Romanian travel agency Eximtur posted a turnover of EUR 22 million in the first nine months of this year, down 2.65 percent on the same period of last year, according to the company. Eximtur posted a EUR 26.7 million turnover last year.
The Romanian economy is likely to grow by 1.6 percent in 2011, ending a two-year recession period, but the country’s annual inflation is seen easing only to 5.4 percent next year, above the central bank’s upper band target of 4 percent, a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) survey shows.
Fashion retailer New Yorker will open its 990 sqm store in Unirea Shopping Center in Bucharest on Friday, November 5. The store will be located between the Zara store and the current KFC location on the Calarasi boulevard side of the Unirea Shopping Center.
Google will open an official office in Romania this month, led by Dan Bulucea (in picture), previously business and marketing director with Microsoft. The new office will deal with implementing Google's strategy in the country, establishing business partnerships with local companies, communications and advertising sales. The activity on the Romanian market used to be managed through Google's office in Ireland.
