Qatar Airways has inaugurated the first direct flight connecting Romania and Qatar. The airline flies from Bucharest to Doha, but also to destinations like Bangkok, Denpasar, Dubai, Maldives and Melbourne. Qatar Airways operates four flights a week on the new route, according to their website.

Several Romanian tourism development associations have recently launched the mobile cooking Romania program, which combines sightseeing of spectacular places with cooking and tasting of culinary treasures of the Carpathian garden. The project is organized by the Carpathian Tourism Cluster, the Monteoru Renaissance association, the Brasov tourism association and the Association of Truffle Hunters in Romania.

The number of medical leaves granted last year in Romania dropped by 45 percent compared to 2009 following the introduction of a stricter system, the Health Ministry said in a press release Thursday. As many as 2.9 million medical leave certificates were granted between January 1 and November 30 in 2009, only 1.6 million certificates were issued in the same interval in 2010, the ministry said.

Romanian online retailer eMag.ro has started selling the Kindle e-reader, which is available for prices between RON 699 and RON 949 (EUR 162 and EUR 220). the Kindle e-reader has been available to Romanian buyers directly from Amazon, for prices between USD 139 and USD 189, plus the transport fees to Romania.
