The number of medical leaves granted last year in Romania dropped by 45 percent compared to 2009 following the introduction of a stricter system, the Health Ministry said in a press release Thursday. As many as 2.9 million medical leave certificates were granted between January 1 and November 30 in 2009, only 1.6 million certificates were issued in the same interval in 2010, the ministry said.
