Romania’s consolidated budget posted in 2010 a deficit of EUR 7.8 billion, or 6.5 percent of the estimated gross domestic product, lower than the ceiling agreed with the International Monetary Fund, the Finance Ministry said Thursday. In its financing agreements with the IMF and the European Commission, Romania pledged to keep the budget deficit below EUR 8.1 billion

The French Institute in Bucharest (77 Dacia Blvd) will host a short movies marathon night this week-end. The French Night of Short Films will start on Saturday, January 29 at 21,00 hours and end on Saturday at 04,00 hours in the morning.

The "George Enescu" Festival 2011 has been included in an annual selection of the most prestigious tourist destinations compiled by Austrian magazine Gewinn. Although it’s not actually a ranking, Romania sits on the 16th place as a tourist destination, recommended for the 2011 “George Enescu” Festival.

Romanian authorities want to create bike tracks for touristic purposes across the country. The Regional Development and Tourism Ministry will be in charge with putting together the bike tracks on existing road infrastructure. Bike tracks will also be created in mountain areas.
